Hello Dearest Garden…

Welcome to our new cozy corner of the internet!

Starting over can be bitter and yet it can be so sweet. Having to start my blog over from scratch is daunting but I am excited to begin something new again. Today, I want to share my why and reflect on what we know today as Dearest Garden.

The cutting garden in July 2024 filled with my favorite flowers.

I recently got asked several questions about what lead me to create Dearest Garden. I made sure to save my responses so that I could turn it into a blog post. And I think it would only be fitting for me to share a little bit of my journey as I relaunch the Dearest Garden blog!

Why Dearest Garden?

Let me start by saying that grief can come from many things. The loss of a loved one, the closing of a business, loss of a job or a home, even the loss of a dream can lead to grief. For me it was the closing of my fabric business and the loss of the dreams and goals I set within the realm of it. This was also in the era of the pandemic. That combined with the uncertainty of the world, left me hurting and searching for an outlet that would give me the peace my heart was aching for… enter gardening.

Watching the birds fly in to eat the fallen sunflower seeds, the butterflies dance among the blooms, is two of the many things nature gifts us when we say yes to our first plant.

A harvest of leafy greens that I was very proud about :)

Gardening not only healed my broken heart, it allowed me to learn about the vibrant world plants are able to create. I was mesmerized and still am, by the way a backyard is able to transform into a new ecosystem just by adding plants to it. Not only was our yard transforming but pollinators that we rarely saw, began to all our space home. This is when I realized, that if you don't fill your world with plants, you miss out on the hidden life that is waiting to live in your garden. Watching the birds fly in to eat the fallen sunflower seeds, the butterflies dance among the blooms, is two of the many things nature gifts us when we say yes to our first plant. This connection to pollinators and the overall harmonious beauty is what I love to watch and capture the most.

I think my why will continue to develop and grow with each new season. But my overall goal for Dearest Garden will remain the same; To share my gardening journey in a way that resonates with others who are also on a journey of their own. I try to deliver my content in a way that leaves people feeling a little bit better before they hit play on of my videos.

Everyone is going through something. You usually seek Youtube or social media to escape from your day to day. My aim is to offer an escape that is peaceful and adds something positive to your day instead of taking away from it. Then hopefully next time when you open your favorite app, Dearest Garden is the one they escape to.
